Where Boulder Cases Are Heard
Cases filed under state law are heard at the Boulder County Combined Court, 1777 6th St., Boulder, CO 80302, which combines the district and county courts of Colorado's 20th Judicial District. The district covers Boulder County alone. District court hears felonies, domestic relations, probate, juvenile, and larger civil cases; county court hears misdemeanors, traffic, and smaller civil cases. The Combined Court also has a Longmont branch at 1035 Kimbark St., Longmont, CO 80501, and some Boulder County cases are set there.
The Boulder Municipal Court is a separate court at the same 1777 6th Street address. It hears violations of City of Boulder ordinances, including municipal offenses, animal cases, traffic cases, and photo enforcement cases. The Municipal Court and the Combined Court share a complex but are different courts, and the paperwork on a case says which one it is in.
What We Handle in Boulder
Our Criminal Defense practice covers Boulder cases from DUI and driving offenses through serious felonies. Our Family Law practice covers divorce, parenting time, child support, and protection orders for Boulder families. Divorce work is billed hourly, and how your fee works is explained up front.
Boulder is home to the University of Colorado Boulder, the state's flagship university, and a CU student's ticket or criminal case is typically heard in the Boulder Municipal Court for city ordinance cases or the Boulder County Combined Court for state charges. A criminal case can also carry consequences on campus, and our resource on criminal charges for college students covers that side of it.
