Family Law across the Denver metro.
Family Law at Cruz Law covers the whole arc of a family case, from divorce and legal separation to parenting time and child support. Our founder, Jason Cruz, built the firm on plain answers and prompt replies, and those habits matter most in family cases.
Denver, Colorado's Second Judicial District, is the only district in the state that is not a combined court. Its domestic relations cases are heard by Denver District Court at the City and County Building, 1437 Bannock Street. Elsewhere in the metro area we appear in the Broomfield Combined Courts and the Adams County Justice Center in Brighton, both in the 17th Judicial District, in the Jefferson Combined Court in Golden, and in the Boulder County Combined Court.
We meet families at our Cherry Creek office at 501 South Cherry Street in Denver and our Broomfield office at 11001 West 120th Ave. The first consultation is free: we hear what is happening, explain what a Colorado court can and cannot order, and put our billing in writing before anything is signed.
More about the courts where we practice: Denver, Cherry Creek, Lakewood, Westminster, Broomfield, Boulder, and Douglas County.
Plain answers
Family Law questions, answered.
Maybe not for the whole case. Colorado's court forms are genuinely usable for simple, uncontested splits. But the court holds you to the same standard as an attorney, and paperwork mistakes can surface years later. We can review your agreement, flag what would fail, and help you file it right, without taking over the whole case.
Colorado retired the word custody in 1999. Courts now decide parenting time, where the kids live and when, and decision-making, who chooses schools and doctors. Together they are called the allocation of parental responsibilities. We will teach you the vocabulary before a judge ever hears your name.
You will know before you sign, in writing. Where the work is predictable we quote a flat fee. Where it is hourly, we talk before any big spend.
Promptly, calls and emails alike. That is the promise this practice is built on. When we are in court and cannot pick up, you will know, and you will hear back.
